Helpful Notes for IP code users:
Please make sure taking into account some safety requirements for devices and appliances in connection to minimal IP Codes in certain cases. In the BS-7671 (IET Wiring Regulations, current, 18-th Edition) they show the minimum requirements:
  • The lights directly above the bath tub, shower or basin and within 0.6m outside - IPx5 (as most important is second digit in this case, first digit might be any)
  • Outside those areas - there is no specific IP rating requirement (unless the water jet will be used there, then the same rule - IPx5 should be used);
  • Within the kitchen better to use minimum IP44 code (IP20 could be sufficient if there is no too heavy moisture exposure);
  • Minimum IP code for outdoor use is IP44 (if there is no direct exposure to the rain or water jets etc., i.e. lighting under the porch). So it's best to use is IP65 or higher for all outdoor use in the open areas with any possibility of exposure to the heavy rain etc.
  • Within the other places of your property there is no specific requirements for devices and appliances to use.
